Lawmakers in Denver are considering raising the cost of gasoline purchases through fees, which will increase costs on all Colorado families and businesses. Even though voters recently passed Prop 117, which says any fee increases need to be approved by the voters of Colorado, politicians are still looking for ways to go around us and raise taxes.
Now, the legislature is looking for a loophole to avoid taking it to a vote of the people. Even worse, our state legislature has a bad history of diverting funds to other projects not related to roads. There is no guarantee the money will actually go to where they say it will.
Diversions to other spending programs should be ended before imposing even considering new or higher taxes.
That’s why we need you to make your voice heard today.
Sign the letter to urge your lawmaker to allow Colorado citizens to vote on any tax increase, including the proposed gas tax!
