The government has tried really hard to sell Obamacare to Latinos, and they have failed.
Federal employees spent $700 million on advertising for the Affordable Care Act. They even created a Spanish version of HealthCare.gov. Yet, fewer than a million Latinos enrolled through the federal exchange last year.
In 2011, 38 percent (5.89 million people) of the uninsured Hispanic population eligible for federal assistance from Obamacare refused to enroll in the exchange.
A common phrase says, “a good product sells itself.” Latinos have decided they deserve better than Obamacare. The Hispanic community in the United States deserves a full repeal with patient-centered reforms.
Rather than focus on spending more taxpayer money to prod Hispanics into funding a system that clearly isn’t offering attractive options, lawmakers should work on fixing that system.
Americans want better health care options. Yet too many policymakers in Washington are focused on preserving a bad system instead of addressing their constituents’ priorities.
